Casa Trusey sits in a tiny town with four true and spectacular seasons. In winter, it is blanketed in snow and smells of burning applewood. Then, in what feels like a few short weeks, the snow melts and daffodils bloom out of the brown. In summer, the farm stands burst with an embarrassment of riches, and then in fall, tens of thousands of Canada geese pass overhead in loud, perfect V's. The old real estate adage says 'location, location,' and what better location than the flight path of ten thousand geese?

About

We bought this house a little over two years ago, and have been "taking our time" with brewing it into a home. Building a home is the grandest and most magnificent art project most of us ever get. Why rush it?

The spaces we loved the most were brewed, not poured. Objects built, precious things accreted. Gradual, collaborative, improvised, broken, mended, reworked, appreciated. You don’t microwave a turkey, you shouldn’t flashcook your home.

This place has taught us to pay close attention: to how quickly time moves, to how lucky we are, and to the fact that we are a part of it all. Like the geese know to fly south, some needs are written in us: to nest, to belong, to connect. But the rest we have to choose: to notice, to savour, to eat every crumb and lick the plate.

We hope that anyone who stays at Casa Trusey is able to leave feeling a little more enlivened. And we hope to make objects that deepen meaning, that celebrate the sweet sting of sentimentality, and make you more conscious of the preciousness of time. Above all, we hope to enjoy life as it happens.

Thank you for joining us at the house of true love.
